Quinoa Tabbouleh

Could it be hotter outside? And could this dish look more refreshing? And can you kind of see my reflection, upside down in the spoon? Cool, crunch, mint, and quinoa ... it even sounds refreshing. Toss this dish together for a summer BBQ bring-along, or keep a bowl of it in your fridge this week for after-work snacks. The flavors are ... view more

Roasted Garlic + Rosemary Beer Bread

Do you love fresh-baked bread ... but fear the thought of working with yeast? I recommend starting with a delicious baby-step: Beer bread! My apartment building has a community grill on the roof, and I had not made much use of it - until now. Yes, the success of this bread has made me want to grill. For Cooking Club, I selected to make Grilled Flatbreads; we ... view more

Roasted Asparagus with Panko-Anchovy Topping

For those occasions when fresh roasted asparagus needs an extra little sparkle, try this crunchy, salty topping. I love cooking with panko - if you have not tried it yet, this is your chance. This Japanese-style bread crumb consists of larger, crispier pieces that will stay light when you cook with them rather than getting soggy or cakey. And do ... view more

How to: Roast Asparagus

I blinked and almost missed it: asparagus season! Asparagus is a spring vegetable, which is something you may only realize if you frequent local farmer's markets - in grocery stores, it is pretty much always in season. In honor of this unique vegetable, let's fire up the oven! Preheat the oven to 400 or 425 - anywhere in there works! To prepare ... view more
