Mains (Lunch + Dinner)

Pumpkin Curry with Shrimp

There is an authentic Thai restaurant not too far from where I live that is one of the most unique places I have been in the city. There are not many decisions to make there: they have two seatings for dinner, and the prix fixe meal includes about eight courses (none of which you select yourself). The fancy term for this is a "chef's tasting menu," ... view more

Gyros

While some food makes for a memorable meal based on the taste alone, other dishes are favorites in large part due to the memories associated with them. For me, Gyros falls in this second category, and the memories take me back to the local Gyros joint in my home town. I used to love watching the cylinder of meat turn around the rotisserie spit, ... view more

Chicken Burgers {Portobello, Edamame, Red Onion}

Chicken Burgers by My Utensil Crock

You may recall from my Homemade Grilled Bread post that at a recent Cooking Club (Hostess: AWP; Theme: Grilling; Date: 06.09.13), I tried my hand at making fresh bread dough - and grilling it. The bread was delicious - my guess is it was the sour cream that made it ... view more

Bison Chili

Yes, it is the middle of summer. But I am always in the mood for healthy, filling meals. This Bison Chili recipe is always a pleaser, and is packed with healthy ingredients. This recipe looks long - which is dissuading to some - but you should think of it as: a lean meat, a few produce items, a few spices, and a few canned items. That does not ... view more

Roasted Chicken with Cider Glaze

I was so intimidated by the thought of cooking a whole chicken - until I tried. Turns out, there is very little more to it than putting a chicken in the oven. It is something I do with regularity now - they are so versatile. This recipe is a Cooking Club Instant Classic (Hostess: me; Theme: Back to Basics - Cooking Techniques; Date: 05.19.13) ... view more
