Damn Meatballs {Sweet + Sour}

That's what my parents call them. "The Damn Meatballs." My parents actually aren't the swearing type, they just happened to QUADRUPLE this recipe for a New Year's Eve party they hosted, to serve 150 guests, and forming the meatballs turned in to an all-afternoon affair. "When will we be done making the Damn Meatballs?" But don't be dissuaded - ... view more

Party Tips: Meatballs + Manicures

Sometimes when I have people over for a get-together, I am a mess at "game time." As my first friends are arriving, I am generally not wearing makeup (or shoes), my sink is filled with dishes, and I'm lucky if I haven't thrown two armfuls of clothes in the bottom of my closet to hide them from sight. It is so easy to make treats for dogs; I admit I ... view more

It is time to expand the kale salad repertoire. I hope you have tried (and LOVE) this Easy Raw Kale Salad with Garlicky Dressing - I enjoy it about once a week. One of its benefits is the low number of ingredients - ingredients that I tend to always have on hand and ready to go {hence the "easy"}. Although I sometimes struggle with finding the ... view more

Lemon & Parmesan Orzo with Kale

Time for a confession. As much as I love to cook, I usually have to follow a recipe. I can alter a bit here and there, adding a spice I like - oregano or cumin - or omitting something obvious like walnuts or chick peas, but generally, I need a set of ingredients and instructions in front of me to get started. Luckily, making a dish out of ... view more

Cabernet-Braised Brisket with Garlic

Spring is (allegedly) just around the corner, but this winter brought with it many long, cold days. And for me, those days were excellent opportunities to spend some QT in the kitchen. Enter: this brisket. Braised in red wine, with garlic. What isn't better with red wine and garlic? I just moved in to a new apartment, and as I was packing up my ... view more
